Circumstances and situations cause me to question if God really cares. Its shameful; I know that I should never have to question that. He promises us so many times that He cares for us…for me! I always like the verses found in Luke 12;
“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows
Luke 12: 6, 7
We know God sees everything that happens to us. Nothing is a surprise to Him…He knows it all. We often wish that He would intervene and stop the pain. We wish that times of trial would not come. As our lives continue on Earth we find ourselves with a choice to make. We can believe God is a God of love that cares for us or we can turn from Him in anger. We can believe that His heart is always for us or we can believe that He is against us. Running to Him in the midst of our anguish will take us into His arms of comfort. Pushing Him away will leave us alone with desperation in our souls.
The main theme running through the Bible is the story of God’s great love for us. Over and over He tells us that He sent His son, Jesus, to this earth to heal broken hearts. Even King David, known to be a man after God’s heart, went through times of great tears to the point that those around him questioned, “Where is your God?” (Psalm 42) Yet he also knew how the Lord took note of his anguish and recorded his tears. (Psalm 56:8) He ran to God for strength in his time of despair.
When we cannot understand the twists and turns of the path our life has taken we can run to the One who will anchor us. God does not promise us that our lives will be free of troubles and trials but he does promise to hold us close through it all. We never have to doubt Gods love and care. He hurts when we hurt. Jesus, Gods only Son went up the agonizing hill to the cross and He understands the deep anguish the soul can plunge to. That is why we can trust Him to be with us in our times of overwhelming stress.
God continually calls us to come to Him with our burdens and find rest for our souls.
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11:28, 29
He invites us to cast our worries on Him because He Cares
Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7
He invites us to come to His throne and ask for mercy and grace to help us in our time of need.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
He Heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds, and understands.
He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.
He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.
Psalm 147: 3-5
When we cannot comprehend why we find ourselves in the places we are…our hearts can reach to the God of all Comfort to find the strength that we need to get through that day and to know that there will be help and hope for all the tomorrows.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
2 Corinthians 1:3,4
